Sue O'Dell RN, MS, C-PNP, IBCLC is a compassionate, knowledgeable, and competent International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant who has had extensive experience working with breastfeeding mother-baby pairs in Colorado for over 34 years.

Sue is also a certified pediatric nurse practitioner and has had the opportunity to provide in-home lactation consultation and support to thousands of grateful families. She has earned the respect of both pediatric and obstetric physicians caring for these families. Sue O'Dell was especially effective because she was able to describe improvements in different ways and show me, then watch me do it - multiple times - to identify things I did right and things I needed to correct. Expertise and Tenderness

Sue O'Dell played a key role in my breastfeeding journey! She was a great help to me in 2014 when I had my first baby. My newborn daughter was refusing to nurse on one side and both my baby and I were frustrated with her struggle to successfully latch on that side. Sue came to my home and I felt completely at ease with her, even with the focus of her visit being the private activity of breastfeeding. She handled my newborn with both expertise and tenderness, and she treated me with care and dignity. On that visit Sue not only helped with breastfeeding, but also tended to me, as I was recovering from an unplanned c-section. She examined and supported me medically, and she encouraged me emotionally too. Sue worked with my daughter and me to overcome our nursing hurdle, and my daughter successfully nursed on both sides for the next 18 months!

... After my second baby was born in 2016, I didn't need lactation help but I struggled with postpartum depression several months after the delivery. I contacted Sue in early 2017 to get her insight, since she works so much with moms of newborns. 1, 2 & 3 - A Breastfeeding Journey

I had established a relationship with Sue before the birth of my first baby. And I'm so glad I did because when he decided to make his appearance 5 weeks early, I needed all the support I could get. I knew I wanted to breast feed but I had no idea what a challenge it would turn out to be. Sue was invaluable in getting our baby from donated breast milk, to my pumped milk in a tube, then from a bottle, and then finally straight from the source anytime and anywhere! The home visit was such a breath of fresh air; someone who was there to help me achieve my goal and truly believed that it could be done, even around his tiny nasal cannula. Sue was patient and reassuring during phone calls and texts when I was crying, afraid, or doubting. I successfully breast fed him for 11 months.

1, 2 & 3 - A Breastfeeding Journey (continued)

. . . When our second baby arrived only 16 months after the first Sue was again there offering support and encouragement. Though I had already successfully breastfed a baby this little buddle of joy brought her own challenges that Sue was able to quickly and easily help us correct. My breastfeeding journey with our daughter lasted 20 wonderful months.

When number 3 made his appearance he proved again every baby is unique. He has a lip and a tongue tie that I felt confident leaving alone after several conversations with Sue, our pediatrician and a pediatric dentist. He is currently growing big and strong on his mama's milk going on 9 months.
